About
Silas Caldwell is an artist blending the arts of southern writing and storytelling with a synthesis of musical traditions arising from the American South.
Named an “Artist To Watch” by Relix Magazine, Silas spent 2024 touring the southeastern United States, spreading his love for the traditions of this epicenter of Western music, which is based in global roots.
Silas has studied under celebrated master songwriter Mary Gauthier. Gauthier called his song Innocent Years "a perfect song." His major songwriting influences include Gauthier, Tom Waits, Neil Young, Bob Dylan, and Patti Smith, shaping his unique and deeply evocative approach to music.
In addition to his solo work, Silas is currently a touring member of Mason Ramsey’s band.

The Kimbrough-Caldwell Band:
Silas Caldwell and Kinney "Kent" Kimbrough—son of blues legend Junior Kimbrough—carry forward the hypnotic groove of hill country blues, keeping its unrelenting rhythms alive for new generations. Kinney Kimbrough, a master of the style, embodies the essence of North Mississippi blues, and alongside Silas, they channel a sound that is both raw and deeply rooted in tradition.
Whether performing as a dynamic duo (guitar and drums) or locking in with Tony Caldwell on bass for a commanding trio, their performances are a testament to the power and resilience of this distinct musical heritage.
Solo Performances:
Outside of The Magnolia Sound and other projects, Silas occasionally performs solo. These shows showcase his conscious lyrics and thoughtful songwriting, often accompanied by a vintage suitcase drum for a unique rhythmic backdrop.
